Question 2 - Re: Kontakt 5, similar question, this time re: bass guitar offerings? ![]() Question 1 - Re: Kontakt 5, are the solo strings and horns of decent quality and variety (and for those who have Cubase's Halion Sonic SE to compare, at least as much as so as that product)? Some things I couldn't figure out by the reviews, if anyone has any insight or experience, I'd appreciate your thoughts!. and wait, there's MORE!") many other expensive products, such as Session Horns, Session Strings, Abbey Road 60's Drums, and others, which I would find useful. I also noticed that for $100 more I could get Komplete 10, which includes the entire Kontakt 5 plus (". Nick Magnus' SOS review of Kontakt 5 very helpful. Well it seems like by far and away the internets recommend Kontakt over other software samplers. That's why I started this thread, to ask what sampler people might recommend for the home hobbyist. I'm bummed, because I'm thinking that might mean I have to buy separate bass and piano VSTi's (I've not noticed or heard of any HSSE tuning problems except way low), or just a whole nother sampler, if that is the right word, to replace HSSE (Kontakt, e.g.). The tuning doesn't look like it would always be trivial either, as shown in the 2nd link in the OP. I could see it making me anxious enough to affect my performance, and then of course there's all the extra time spent listening to see if there was a tuning error and adjusting/re-tuning to be done. I think I just don't have the stomach to be wondering every time I played a low note on bass or piano whether Halion Sonic SE was out of tune. ![]() I use other samples out of Reason or Garritan Orchestra by way of Rewire as well. ![]() Before VariAudio I used to just pitch shift the note until it matched the pitch on my keyboard.
